Israeli Army Claims Attack Near "Yellow Line," Conducts Retaliatory Strikes on Hamas Targets
On the evening of the 21st local time, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement saying that an engineering vehicle of the IDF was attacked by an explosion near the "Yellow Line" that day, but there were no casualties. In response, the IDF has launched strikes against the military infrastructure of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
The statement indicated that earlier that day, IDF forces were carrying out routine operations near the "Yellow Line" when an engineering vehicle was attacked by an explosive device. Subsequently, as a retaliatory measure, the IDF launched strikes against some of Hamas's infrastructure. The Israeli side stated that these facilities were used by Hamas to plan and carry out attacks against Israelis and IDF forces.
The IDF emphasized that its forces are still deployed in the relevant areas according to the ceasefire agreement and will continue to take action to "eliminate any imminent threats."
Hamas has not yet responded to this.
The "Yellow Line" was established by the IDF based on the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The area east of the "Yellow Line" is under IDF control, accounting for about 53% of the Gaza Strip; the area west of the "Yellow Line" is controlled by Hamas, and the IDF no longer stations troops or conducts operations there.
