Poland Seeks to Gradually Expand the U.S. Military Presence to 15,000 Troops
Xinhua News Agency, Warsaw, September 21 (Reporter Wang Yihan) - Polish Deputy Defense Minister Stanisław Żaryn stated in an interview with Polish RMF Radio on the 21st that Poland is seeking to deploy approximately 15,000 U.S. soldiers within its territory.
Żaryn said, "The ultimate goal we are talking about is 15,000 soldiers," of which about 4,000 to 5,000 U.S. soldiers will be stationed at permanent military bases, while another 10,000 to 11,000 soldiers will be deployed on a rotational basis.
Żaryn indicated that the scale of U.S. troops stationed in Poland will be expanded in phases, with the target expected to be reached by 2039. Currently, there are about 6,500 to 7,000 U.S. soldiers stationed on a rotational basis in Poland.
U.S. President Trump stated on the 17th that there has been "significant progress" in establishing a permanent military base in Poland. The U.S. is currently conducting a six-month assessment of its military deployment in Europe, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
