Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, June 10 (Reporter Wang Zhuolun, Pang Xinyi) The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) issued a joint statement on the 10th, stating that the Israeli military recently killed Kader Jamasi, the head of financial operations for the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and his deputy, Mohammed Harazin, in northern Gaza Strip.
The statement said that the two were important financial operatives for Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Since the outbreak of the current round of Israeli-Palestinian conflict, they have transferred tens of millions of dollars to Hamas's military wing through a network of dozens of currency exchange agencies spread across the Gaza Strip.
The statement also noted that this operation is part of Israel's ongoing efforts to strike at Hamas's financial system.
The statement further indicated that the forces under the Southern Command are still deployed in the relevant areas according to the ceasefire agreement and will continue to take action to eliminate "any direct threats."
