Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, August 6 (Reporters Feng Guorui and Pang Xinyi) - The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on the 6th saying that the military has struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon in the past 24 hours.

The statement noted that the targets included Hezbollah infrastructure, weapon storage facilities, and military command centers in several areas of southern Lebanon.

The statement mentioned that on the 5th, an IDF reserve major and a reserve sergeant major were killed in an explosion in the southern region of Lebanon, and four other IDF soldiers were seriously injured. The strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon in the past 24 hours were a response to this incident.

The statement also said that IDF forces are currently still deployed in the "security zone" in southern Lebanon according to relevant agreements and will continue to take action to eliminate threats against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.
