Israeli Army Intercepts New Fleet Attempting to Sail to Gaza
Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, May 18 (Reporter Chen Junqing, Wang Zhuolun) According to multiple Israeli media reports on the 18th, the Israeli Navy intercepted a fleet attempting to sail to the Gaza Strip, known as the "Global Solidarity Fleet," again on the morning of the same day.
It was reported that the fleet set sail from southern Turkey last week, attempting to break through Israel's maritime blockade of the Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian aid supplies to the people of Gaza.
Live footage on social media showed the Israeli military boarding one of the ships in the fleet near the waters off Cyprus.
The Israel Times reported on the 18th that Israel had warned that "all parties involved in this provocation should immediately change course and withdraw."
Earlier, a "Global Solidarity Fleet" set out from locations such as Spain along the Mediterranean coast in early April, gathering multiple ships to head towards the Gaza Strip. At the end of April, the fleet was intercepted by Israeli warships near the waters off the island of Crete in Greece.
