Xinhua News Agency, Dakar, February 21 (Reporter Chen Chen) Bamako reports: The Malian military issued a statement on the 21st, stating that the Malian Air Force carried out a targeted strike against a group of armed terrorists in the southwestern Sikasso region on the 20th, with preliminary results showing that more than 50 terrorists were killed.

The General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces stated in the announcement that the Air Force, while conducting aerial reconnaissance missions in the Yangfulela area of Sikasso region on the same day, discovered a target near a body of water and carried out a strike, completely destroying the terrorists' equipment during the operation.

The statement said that operations to hunt down and strike terrorist organizations are still ongoing across Mali.

In May 2015, the Malian government signed a peace and reconciliation agreement with some armed groups in the northern region, and in June of the same year, all parties completed the final signing of the agreement. However, the northern region of this West African country has continued to experience conflicts in recent years, and there has also been an increasing trend of armed attacks in other regions.
