Jiang Bin: From May 7 to 9, the preparatory meeting for the 2026 Beijing Xiangshan Forum was successfully held in Beijing. This meeting focused on the theme of "Global Security Governance: Challenges and Solutions," with 121 defense officials, senior military officers, and experts from 43 countries and international organizations in attendance.
The agenda of this preparatory meeting precisely targeted the key pain points and real challenges in current global security governance, providing the international community with a dialogue platform that transcends zero-sum games and rejects confrontational logic. Representatives from all parties engaged in equal exchanges and heated discussions, generally opposing unilateral hegemony and the law of the jungle, insisting on maintaining the core position of the United Nations, advocating for risk management and crisis prevention through cooperation, and believing that the four global initiatives proposed by China offer constructive ideas and practical pathways to address the security governance deficit, solve international security problems, and strengthen the foundation for security and development.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum. Over the past 20 years, the forum has consistently upheld the principles of equality, openness, inclusiveness, and mutual learning, respecting every voice that defends justice, valuing every effort to bridge differences, and welcoming every suggestion for win-win cooperation. We look forward to gathering again in Beijing with representatives from various countries this year, amidst the vibrant autumn leaves of Xiangshan, to build mutual trust and consensus through dialogue, resolve conflicts through cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength to jointly address global security challenges and build a world of lasting peace and universal security.
