Multiple Countries in the Middle East Activate Air Defense Systems and Sound Alarms
Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, July 12 - Iran began a series of strikes against U.S. targets in the Middle East on the 12th, prompting several countries in the region to activate their air defense systems and sound air raid alarms.
The UAE Ministry of Defense stated on social media that the country's air defense forces are intercepting missiles and drones.
The Qatari Ministry of Interior issued a security alert on the 12th, stating that the security threat has escalated. Continuous explosions were heard in the capital, Doha, shortly thereafter.
Earlier, the Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced the activation of air raid alarms. According to media reports, Jordan has also activated its air defense systems.
According to Iranian state television, the series of strikes launched by Iran is intended to respond to an attack by U.S. forces earlier that day. The U.S. Central Command had previously stated on social media that U.S. forces conducted their third strike against Iran within the week on the 11th, Eastern Time.
