NATO Says It Will Provide 70 Billion Euros in Military Aid to Ukraine by 2026

Xinhua News Agency, Ankara, July 8 (Reporters Zhang Zhaoqing, Wang Tengfei) The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) stated on the 8th that NATO allies have committed to providing Ukraine with military equipment worth 70 billion euros, along with related support and training, by 2026, and will maintain at least the same level in 2027.

The NATO summit was held in Ankara, Turkey, from the 7th to the 8th, after which the "Ankara Summit Declaration" was issued. The declaration stated that NATO announced over 50 billion dollars in new military procurement in Ankara and committed to enhancing defense industrial manufacturing capabilities, working with the industry to accelerate innovation. NATO will continue to work to eliminate defense trade barriers among allies and maximize the level of the defense industry through NATO partnerships.

The declaration did not specify the location and time of the next NATO summit, only stating that it "looks forward to the next meeting." Analysts have noted that NATO is considering not holding the 2027 summit as usual, one reason being the desire to ease tensions between U.S. President Trump and NATO allies.

On the 7th, Trump stated in Ankara that he was "disappointed" with NATO countries' performance regarding U.S. military actions against Iran. He reiterated that Greenland "should be controlled by the United States," rather than Denmark. On the 8th, Trump accused Spain of being a "bad partner" in NATO, stating that he would "cut off all trade relations with Spain."
