Netherlands Purchases "Patriot" Missile Defense System
Xinhua News Agency, The Hague, April 8 (Reporter Shao Haijun) - The Dutch Ministry of Defense announced on the 7th that it has signed an agreement with the American company Raytheon to procure a set of "Patriot" missile defense systems to enhance the country's air defense capabilities.
In a statement on the same day, the Dutch Ministry of Defense said that the system to be procured includes launch stations, control consoles, radars, as well as some accessories and logistical equipment.
According to local media reports, the "Patriot" missile defense system can intercept helicopters, aircraft, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. The reports stated that previously, the Netherlands had procured four sets of "Patriot" missile defense systems to assist NATO in addressing threats from Russia. Among them, one set is deployed within the Netherlands, while two sets are deployed in Poland, and the fourth set procured last year has not yet been delivered.
