Oshkosh Defense advances digital sustainment for Marine trucks

Oshkosh Defense and the Marine Corps’ Marine Depot Maintenance Command manufactured an identical, approved replacement part for a Marine Corps heavy truck at two separate production sites, one in Japan and one in Georgia, using the same secure digital blueprint during Exercise Valiant Shield 2026, the company said in a release.

Oshkosh Defense, an Oshkosh Corporation business, worked with MDMC and Japan-based, Oshkosh-authorized manufacturer MadeHere to produce the part for the Logistics Vehicle System Replacement, the Marine Corps’ heavy tactical resupply truck. The same component was separately produced at MDMC’s facility in Albany, Georgia, during the same demonstration.

Production ran through the AdvMFG Hub Digital Sustainment Platform, a secure repository of approved digital part files. The platform lets authorized users manufacture replacement parts while Oshkosh Defense retains ownership of the underlying intellectual property.

“Future conflicts will demand new approaches to sustainment, particularly in environments where traditional logistics networks may be constrained or contested,” said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer, Oshkosh Defense.

“Secure digital manufacturing gives maintainers the ability to produce approved replacement parts closer to the point of need, reducing maintenance delays, improving operational resilience, and helping keep critical vehicles in the fight.”

The demonstration took place during Valiant Shield 2026, an 11th-iteration, biennial multinational exercise that ran June 22 through July 1 across Guam, Japan and the Mariana Islands Range Complex, involving U.S. Pacific Command forces and allied partners across multiple services.

The work builds on a public-private partnership Oshkosh Defense and MDMC announced in March 2026, establishing the Digital Manufacturing Exchange as a secure framework for transmitting technical data packages and managing intellectual property controls so approved parts can be produced at or near the point of need.
