Poland Joins the Anti-Missile Alliance

According to a report by Reference News Network on September 25, Reuters reported on September 18 that Polish Prime Minister Tusk announced on the 18th that Poland has officially joined the missile defense alliance formed by Ukraine and several allies.

In a video posted on social media platform X, Tusk said, “As of today, Poland is officially a member of this important alliance... We have reached an agreement on the form of cooperation and the overall framework.”

Tusk attended a summit held on the 18th in western Ukraine. The meeting was initiated by Ukrainian President Zelensky and included participants from eight Carpathian region countries, aiming to launch a new regional cooperation mechanism.

Just this July, Ukraine and nine European countries announced the establishment of an air defense alliance, one of the cooperation contents being the joint development of a lower-cost missile defense system as an alternative to the U.S. "Patriot" system.

At the press conference for this summit, Tusk stated that Poland is prepared to provide Ukraine with a “substantial” package of assistance, but did not disclose specific details.

Tusk said, “My position remains unchanged. Poland must support Ukraine in resisting Russia's military aggression, and this is something that cannot be changed.” (Translated by Wang Dongdong)
