Qatar's Foreign Ministry Says US-Iran Negotiation Process Needs More Time
Xinhua News Agency, Doha, May 19 (Reporter Wang Qiang) - Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Ansari said on the 19th that the negotiation process between the United States and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, requires more time.
Ansari stated at a press conference that Qatar supports the diplomatic efforts made by Pakistan. Pakistan has shown a serious attitude in facilitating contact among the parties and seeking solutions. The Qatari side believes that this process still needs more time.
Ansari also mentioned that Qatar maintains contact with both the United States and Iran. He added that previously "Iran's choice to attack Qatar posed a threat to the relations between the two countries."
U.S. President Trump stated on social media on the 18th that at the request of the leaders of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, he has ordered the postponement of the military attack on Iran that was "originally scheduled for tomorrow (the 19th)."
