Refining Collaborative Abilities: China, Russia, and Mongolia Conduct "Border Defense Cooperation - 2026" Joint Exercise
From September 2 to 3, the border defense forces of China, Russia, and Mongolia organized a joint exercise titled "Border Defense Cooperation - 2026" in a designated border area at the tripoint of Manzhouli City, Inner Mongolia. The exercise focused on the theme of "preventing and combating reconnaissance and sabotage activities in border areas." During the exercise, the three parties conducted simultaneous live drills on various practical subjects such as "joint planning, joint search, joint strike and capture, and joint handover," honing their collaborative capabilities in response to sudden border incidents.
In this joint exercise, the unified command post was established within Russian territory, with all three parties planning and acting in coordination.
During the live drill phase, several simulated terrorists fled from Russian territory towards China and Mongolia. The Russian side deployed helicopters for aerial strikes, creating a firepower blockade to completely isolate the "terrorists" within their territory; the Mongolian side leveraged the terrain advantage to effectively block the escape route of the incoming "terrorists."

The Chinese drone combat team detected and locked onto the target, and the participating soldiers issued warnings and flashing alerts to drive them away. The "terrorists" resisted fiercely and opened fire. The assault team quickly approached the target building under the cover of drone firepower, breached the interior, and executed the capture.

Chinese participating soldier Yuan Gaoming: This exercise employed various modern, unmanned, and intelligent border control methods, creating a comprehensive and three-dimensional encirclement of the "terrorists."
At the end of the exercise, the border defense soldiers from China, Russia, and Mongolia each performed their duties and coordinated effectively, strictly following the relevant agreements on border control during the verification of the "involved personnel's" identities and the signing of handover documents, ensuring that the entire cross-border handover process was rigorous and smooth.

Chinese participating soldier Li Zhenkuan: The border defense cooperation among China, Russia, and Mongolia has transitioned from "initial exploration" to a new stage of "deep integration." Moving forward, we will continue to conduct joint training exercises based on this foundation, jointly strengthening the border security barrier.
During the joint exercise, through directional deployment, phased coordination, and task-specific assaults, the collaborative capability of the three border defense forces in responding to sudden border incidents was effectively honed.

Russian participating soldier Mamonov: This joint exercise is an important step for us to strengthen border defense cooperation and deepen trilateral friendship. This year, we used more new equipment, such as drones, which are more advanced and efficient than last year.

Mongolian participating soldier Ajijirigala: All three parties frequently used drones during this joint exercise, with the technological content gradually increasing. This joint exercise was very successful, and our traditional friendly cooperation is not only for today but also holds great promise for the future, which gives me a lot of confidence.
