Rheinmetall to supply turret parts for U.S. Marines’ new combat vehicles

American Rheinmetall has won a $710,000 subcontract from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to produce machined components for the MCT-30 turret used on the U.S. Marine Corps’ ACV-30, the amphibious combat vehicle variant equipped with a medium-caliber gun.

The work will be performed at American Rheinmetall’s Lapeer and Lansing, Michigan facilities, with deliveries scheduled throughout 2026 and 2027. American Rheinmetall is serving as a subcontractor to Kongsberg, which builds the MCT-30 turret system.

The award marks the first contract Kongsberg has placed with American Rheinmetall’s Michigan operations. The company said the deal builds on an existing relationship with Kongsberg centered on its facility in Maine, which has supported the CROWS remote weapon station program.

The ACV-30 is a variant of the Marine Corps’ Amphibious Combat Vehicle, fitted with the MCT-30 turret to add a 30mm cannon and improved firepower compared with the base ACV personnel carrier configuration. The Amphibious Combat Vehicle program overall is intended to replace the Marine Corps’ aging Assault Amphibious Vehicle fleet, which has been in service since the 1970s.

American Rheinmetall’s Michigan facilities are also involved in the company’s Lynx XM30 program, which delivered its first prototype to the U.S. Army last week as part of the competition to replace the Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The Kongsberg award adds a separate Marine Corps-linked customer relationship to the company’s Michigan operations, alongside that Army-focused work.

American Rheinmetall said the award reflects its continued growth within the Tier 1 defense industry supplier base as the company expands both its manufacturing capabilities and its customer base across U.S. military branches.
