Russia claims control of four towns, Ukraine says port railway was attacked

According to Xinhua News Agency in Moscow/Kyiv on February 13, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the 13th that the Russian military has controlled or occupied four villages in Ukraine over the past week. Ukrainian government officials stated that from the evening of the 12th to the early morning of the 13th, the Russian military used drones to attack a port in Odesa Oblast, resulting in casualties.

The report released by the Russian Ministry of Defense on social media stated that from the 7th to the 13th, the Russian military conducted an intensive assault on Ukrainian positions using various weapons, and carried out six group strikes with multiple sets of equipment, destroying targets including military industrial enterprises, military energy and transportation facilities, ammunition depots, military airfields, attack drone production, storage, and launch sites, as well as temporary positions of Ukrainian forces and foreign mercenaries.

The report mentioned that during the same period, the Russian Northern Group of Forces has controlled two villages in Kharkiv Oblast and Sumy Oblast, namely Chuhunivka and Sydorivka; the Russian Western Group of Forces has taken control of Hlushkivka in Kharkiv Oblast; and the Russian Eastern Group of Forces has occupied Zaliznychne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

The report also stated that during the same period, the Russian air defense systems shot down five Ukrainian-made "Flamingo" long-range cruise missiles, 28 guided aerial bombs, 39 rockets launched by the U.S.-made "HIMARS" multiple rocket launcher system, four Ukrainian-made "Neptune" long-range missiles, and 1,243 fixed-wing drones.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod Oblast in Russia, announced on social media on the 13th that a missile attack by Ukrainian forces on an infrastructure facility in the region resulted in the deaths of two men and injuries to five others. The attack caused severe damage to local energy infrastructure, disrupting electricity, heating, and water supply systems.

On the same day, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba posted on social media that from the evening of the 12th to the early morning of the 13th, the Russian military used drones to attack a port in Odesa Oblast, resulting in one death and six civilian injuries. Port facilities, fertilizer warehouses, and transportation vehicles, including freight cars, were damaged.

Kuleba stated that the Russian military also launched drone attacks on railway facilities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, but there were no casualties and no impact on railway operations.

The Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported that the Russian attacks also led to damage to energy, residential, and industrial facilities within Odesa Oblast. Several high-rise residential buildings were directly hit, and some apartments were damaged.

The Ukrainian Air Force also posted on social media that from the evening of the 12th to the early morning of the 13th, the Russian side launched an "Iskander" missile from its Kursk Oblast towards Ukraine, and launched 154 attack drones from multiple directions, of which Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted 111.
