On March 27 local time, Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov clarified reports regarding President Putin's discussions with the business community at a briefing.
Peskov stated that Putin did not discuss the topic of "voluntary donations to support the special military operation" with business representatives. Peskov denied media reports that the CEO of Russian oil company Sechin had proposed to Putin that the business community fund the special military operation, calling it untrue.
Peskov revealed that during the meeting, one participant voluntarily offered to provide a large sum of money to the state, which was a personal decision. Putin expressed support for this. Peskov also stated that the meeting between Putin and the business community did not discuss economic cooperation projects with the United States.
Peskov said that the potential for economic and trade cooperation between Russia and the United States remains to be explored, despite the U.S. linking this issue to the situation in Ukraine.
