Russia claims Ukrainian drone attack killed 9, Ukraine says it targeted Russian logistics hub
Xinhua News Agency, Moscow/Kiev, July 18 (Reporter Zhou Liang, Bao Nuomin) Multiple locations in Russia were attacked by Ukrainian drones from the night of the 17th to the morning of the 18th, resulting in 9 deaths and dozens of injuries. Ukrainian President Zelensky stated on the 18th that the Ukrainian military successfully struck two Russian logistics hubs and an oil facility.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 18th that Russian air defense forces destroyed 379 incoming Ukrainian drones over nearly 20 federal subjects and above the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea from the evening of the 17th to the early morning of the 18th.
Evgeny Pervyshov, the governor of Russia's Tambov region, stated on social media on the 18th that Ukrainian drones attacked a logistics center in the region early that morning, resulting in 7 deaths and 25 injuries.
According to Russian media reports on the 18th, a Ukrainian drone attack on a logistics center in Moscow region resulted in 37 injuries. Moscow region governor Vorobyov confirmed on social media that the region was attacked by drones from the night of the 17th to the early morning of the 18th, resulting in 1 death. The drone crash also caused a fire at a local oil warehouse and a kindergarten.
Additionally, according to information released by local Russian governments on the 18th, a drone attack by the Ukrainian military in Belgorod region resulted in 1 death and 1 injury. The Ukrainian military also attacked an energy facility in Kursk region, causing power outages for over 46,000 people.
Zelensky stated on social media on the 18th that in response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and towns, the Ukrainian military successfully struck two logistics hubs in Moscow and Tambov regions. These two facilities are located more than 500 kilometers and 700 kilometers from the front lines, respectively.
Zelensky noted that the Russian military uses these facilities to produce components for drones and navigation equipment.
