Russia claims Ukrainian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant multiple times within 24 hours.
On June 28, Xinhua News Agency reported from Moscow (Reporter Wang Zuokui) that Russian media cited the words of Alexey Likhachev, CEO of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, stating that the Ukrainian armed forces launched more than 60 drone attacks on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the city of Enerhodar in the past 24 hours.
Likhachev said that the Ukrainian side is attempting to undermine the morale of the residents of Enerhodar and the staff of the nuclear power plant through increasingly frequent attacks, but the staff at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant have demonstrated high professionalism and courage.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is one of the largest nuclear power plants in Europe. After the escalation of the Ukraine crisis in February 2022, Russian forces took control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. Since then, the plant has been subjected to shelling and drone attacks multiple times, raising concerns in the international community about its safety.
