Russian Foreign Minister Informs the U.S. of Plans to Strike Ukraine
On May 25, Xinhua News Agency reported from Moscow (Reporter Hou Ming) that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on its website that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov spoke by phone with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio on the same day. Following the instructions of Russian President Putin, he informed the U.S. side that Russia has begun systematic strikes against military facilities in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.
Lavrov stated that in response to the ongoing attacks by Ukraine on Russian civilians and civilian infrastructure, the Russian military is conducting systematic and sustained strikes against facilities in Kyiv that serve the Ukrainian armed forces. He reminded the U.S. side to pay attention to the statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the same day, suggesting that U.S. diplomatic personnel and citizens evacuate from Kyiv.
The announcement also mentioned that both sides exchanged views on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Cuba. In addition, both sides expressed their intention to intensify efforts to normalize the work of their respective diplomatic missions.
