The 162nd Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River Successfully Concluded
At around 10:30 on February 13, the 162nd joint patrol law enforcement operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River was successfully concluded. The three Chinese law enforcement vessels, 53106, 53107, and 53108, successfully docked at the Jingha Police Dock in Xishuangbanna, and the law enforcement vessels and personnel from Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand have safely returned to their respective countries.
This operation lasted for 5 days and 4 nights, covering a total distance of over 700 kilometers. The relevant law enforcement departments from China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand dispatched a total of 101 law enforcement personnel and 5 law enforcement vessels, organizing joint patrol law enforcement along the entire route and conducting segmented patrols.
Currently, it is the peak shipping season on the Mekong River and the dry season for the Mekong River channel. In response to the severe and complex criminal situation in the Mekong River basin and the frequent incidents of vessels running aground and colliding with reefs, the joint patrol law enforcement team focused on high-risk waters such as Ban Xangkhong, Xieng Khouang, and the Huaylong River estuary, conducting joint land and water inspections and public awareness actions. They checked and reminded over 50 passing vessels, inspected more than 200 individuals, checked over 5,000 tons of cargo, and rescued 1 distressed merchant ship, effectively maintaining safety and order in the basin.
During this period, the four parties successfully held an information exchange meeting in Laos, mutually reporting on the recent security situation and safety governance in the Mekong River basin. They discussed and reached a consensus on strengthening information sharing, case collaboration, and deepening law enforcement safety cooperation measures. The four parties unanimously expressed their commitment to jointly combat and rectify various illegal activities related to telecommunications network fraud, drug crimes, and their derivatives, fully maintaining safety and stability in the Mekong River basin and the property safety of the people during the Spring Festival. The Chinese side also conducted Spring Festival慰问活动 for the duty teams at the Mengmo and Ban Xangkhong liaison points in Laos.
