The 167th Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River Launched

On July 20, the 167th joint patrol and law enforcement operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River officially commenced.

In this operation, the law enforcement agencies of the four countries dispatched a total of 5 law enforcement boats and 170 law enforcement personnel. Following the work objectives of "precise prevention, meticulous control, and accurate strikes," and taking into account the actual conditions of the Mekong River during the flood season, which include changing navigation channels, complex hydrology, and frequent hazards, the focus was on joint emergency rescue operations on the water during the flood season, investigation of navigation hazards, and handling of sudden emergencies. A series of law enforcement actions were carried out, including joint patrols along the entire route, segmented cruising, joint training, and land-water coordinated inspections and seizures.

During the operation, a command post was established on the Chinese law enforcement boat 53108 to coordinate and dispatch operations. The four parties jointly patrolled and controlled key areas such as important navigation channels on the Mekong River, coastal docks, hazardous water areas, and tributary ferry crossings, making every effort to prevent and combat various types of cross-border illegal activities. Comprehensive inspections and rectifications were conducted regarding safety in flood-prone waters, public security along the coast, and navigation risks, ensuring the safety of life and property for the people of the coastal countries and passing crews, and ensuring the safety, stability, and smoothness of the Mekong River international navigation channel.
