The Pakistani military states "at all costs" to support Saudi Arabia.

The Gulf nation of Saudi Arabia is currently facing increasingly fierce attacks from the Houthi armed group in Yemen. As an ally that has signed a mutual defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan's response has drawn significant attention from the outside world. A spokesperson for the Pakistani military stated in an interview on the 17th that Pakistan will "spare no effort" to support Saudi Arabia, including assisting in the defense of the religious holy sites of Mecca and Medina within Saudi territory.

This week, the Houthi armed group launched a new wave of attacks against Saudi Arabia, with the Saudi side accusing them of attempting to use drones to attack Mecca, which were intercepted and destroyed by Saudi air defense forces. The Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation subsequently condemned the Houthi armed group. The Houthi side denied the attack on Mecca, accusing Saudi Arabia of "lying."

In an interview, Pakistani military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that Pakistan will support Saudi Arabia "both diplomatically and through substantive actions," and "will spare no effort to defend the holy sites and the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed the "Joint Strategic Defense Agreement" in September 2025, which is seen as a military alliance between the two sides. Against the backdrop of escalating conflicts involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, which have intensified the turmoil in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, along with Turkey, signed the "Mecca Joint Defense Agreement" on August 7 in Mecca. The agreement stipulates that any armed attack against any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against all three collectively.
