On April 1, Xinhua News Agency reported from Moscow (Reporter Liu Kai) that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on April 1 that the Russian military has fully controlled the Luhansk region.

On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a combat report on social media stating that the Western Group of Forces has completely taken control of the Luhansk region. The Russian military has also taken control of two settlements in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The combat report also mentioned that in the past day, the Russian military struck Ukrainian military airports, military-industrial complex facilities, energy infrastructure used by the military, long-range drone launch and storage sites, as well as temporary deployment locations of Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries in multiple areas. The Russian air defense system shot down 10 precision-guided aerial bombs, 1 rocket fired from the U.S.-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, and 261 fixed-wing drones.
