The Turkish Foreign Minister says Turkey may provide military technical assistance to Saudi Arabia.

Xinhua News Agency, Ankara, September 19 (Reporter Huo Dantong) - Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan stated on the 19th that in response to the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, Turkey will honor its commitments under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement and may provide military technical assistance to Saudi Arabia.

During an appearance on Turkey's NTV television program, Fidan mentioned that the signatories of the agreement are closely monitoring the attacks by the Yemeni Houthi forces on Saudi Arabia. He said, "We are united on this issue. The agreement contains relevant clauses, and we will honor our commitments." He specifically condemned the attacks on oil infrastructure.

Fidan indicated that Saudi Arabia's needs for assistance may focus on certain technical aspects, and Turkey will be able to meet these needs.

Fidan also refuted claims that there has been slow substantive progress on the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, stating that the agreement is transformative and open to all countries in the region.

On August 7, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement. According to a joint statement issued by the three parties on that day, the agreement aims to strengthen collective deterrence against any acts of aggression. The agreement stipulates that an armed attack on any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack on all three.
