The UK Opens Large Factory for Military Reorganization
According to a report by Reference News on September 17, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported on September 14 that against the backdrop of a military rearmament creating new business for defense manufacturers, a British startup has opened the largest factory in London since World War II.
Ithaca Company stated that this factory, covering an area of approximately 15,000 square meters, will utilize cutting-edge technology to produce components for major clients including Babcock, Anduril, and Thales.
The company specializes in the production of high-precision metal parts for defense equipment, including drones, military aircraft, and robotic systems.
Located in Southwark, this factory is expected to employ about 200 people by the end of 2027 and will become Ithaca Company's global headquarters, aiding its overseas expansion.
Reports indicate that NATO is striving to deter Russian threats, and in this context, the increasing defense spending by European countries has stimulated demand for new types of weapons, ammunition, and vehicles.
Alexander Fitzgerald, founder of Ithaca Company, said: “Since World War II, London has not opened a factory like this, which is enough to illustrate the extent to which our industrial base has shrunk. Bringing production back to the UK is a top priority for the next decade.”
