The U.S. Central Command announced on social media on the 7th that the U.S. military has begun a "series of strong" strikes against Iran in response to Iran's earlier attacks on three commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The announcement stated that these Iranian attacks "targeted commercial vessels operating in international waters, manned by innocent civilians," and that Iran's actions "are unjustified, extremely dangerous, and clearly violate the ceasefire agreement."

According to a U.S. official, the strikes against Iran include targets such as Iran's air defense systems, coastal surveillance systems, surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles, and drone launch sites.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations office reported earlier on the 7th that another oil tanker was attacked by a drone while passing through the Strait of Hormuz that day. This is the third incident reported by the agency within 24 hours involving vessels being attacked in that area. Additionally, U.S. sources indicated that the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked several commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, with two vessels being hit and suffering significant damage.

The Iranian Persian Gulf Strait Management Authority recently announced on social media that all vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz must follow the designated routes and procedures, and vessels that deviate from the designated routes will not be afforded safety and related insurance protections.
