Earlier that day, the U.S. Central Command stated that the U.S. military destroyed a surveillance tower located in the Iranian port of Chabahar on the 16th, describing the tower as "part of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' maritime surveillance network, which has been used for decades to track and target commercial vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz."
