Trump: Iran's "Right Person" Called to Say "Hope to Reach an Agreement"

On April 13, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that U.S. President Trump stated to the media at the White House that Iran had called the U.S. that morning expressing a "desire to reach an agreement," but he would not agree to any deal that allows Iran to possess nuclear weapons.

Trump said that the U.S. received a call from "the right people" in Iran that morning, indicating a desire to reach an agreement. He also emphasized, "Iran will never have nuclear weapons," and added, "If they do not agree, then there will be no agreement. There will never be an agreement."

He also stated that another priority for the U.S. is to retrieve the enriched uranium held by Iran, saying, "We will either take it back from them or we will take it back directly."

Trump confirmed that the U.S. has implemented a blockade on all ships entering and leaving Iranian ports starting at 10 a.m. Eastern Time on the 13th. He mentioned that 34 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz on the 12th and stated that "other countries will help" the U.S. block Iranian ports, but did not specify which countries, only indicating that the U.S. might announce relevant information on the 14th.

Trump also mentioned that the U.S. might "take action" against Cuba after resolving issues related to Iran.
