On April 6 local time, at a press conference held at the White House, U.S. President Trump stated that whether the conflict with Iran is about to escalate or nearing an end depends on Iran's response to the "deadline" he set for 8 PM Eastern Time on the 7th.

Trump said that a deal he can accept must be reached before the April 7 deadline, otherwise he would destroy Iran's bridges and power plants. He stated, "A plan has already been developed", and once initiated, "every bridge in Iran will be completely destroyed, and every power plant in Iran will be completely incapacitated." He also mentioned that if the U.S. is willing, "the entire destruction process would only take a mere four hours." However, he claimed that "he does not wish for this to happen."

Trump also mentioned that there is indeed a "proactive and willing participant" on the Iranian side who "hopes to reach an agreement," but he is currently unable to disclose more details.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Trump stated that reopening the strait is a top priority. He also indicated that the toll for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz should be collected by the U.S. rather than Iran. (CCTV reporter Cao Jian)
