Trump says the U.S. may strike Iran's Gohar Zamin nuclear facility.
On October 16, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that U.S. President Trump stated during an interview with American News Network at the White House on the 15th that the United States may launch strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities again, including the underground nuclear facility at Mount Maher.
Trump said, "We are looking at Mount Maher, and we may have to go there," adding, "We will try to strike that target and can destroy it very quickly." He mentioned that the U.S. would not deploy ground troops for such actions.
Trump claimed that the U.S. has caused significant damage to Iran's nuclear infrastructure, but if the U.S. retreats before completely eliminating the possibility of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, it may have to take military action again in the future.
Trump also stated that the conflict with Iran would soon come to an end and mentioned that Iran is negotiating with the United States.
Mount Maher is located near the Natanz nuclear facility in Isfahan Province, central Iran, and is considered one of Iran's most fortified underground nuclear facilities. Trump has previously threatened to strike the underground nuclear facility at Mount Maher multiple times. However, Iranian officials have stated that the Mount Maher facility "is empty," and any U.S. attack on Mount Maher is destined to fail.
U.S. President Trump announced that the U.S. may conduct strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities, specifically targeting the underground site at Mount Maher. He indicated that ground troops would not be involved in these operations. Trump also mentioned that significant damage has already been inflicted on Iran's nuclear capabilities, but further military action may be necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
