Ukrainian Suburbs Near Kyiv Hit by Drone Attack, Resulting in 27 Deaths
On August 29 local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky reported that the village of Myra, located near Kyiv, has been continuously subjected to drone attacks by Russian forces since last night. Currently, all follow-up response efforts are being carried out in an orderly manner. The attack hit a warehouse in the village, causing an explosion that resulted in numerous casualties and damage to infrastructure.
As of now, the attack has resulted in 27 fatalities, dozens of injuries, and over 370 civilians have completed emergency evacuations, with related evacuation efforts still ongoing.
The Ukrainian side stated that, according to regulations, ammunition is prohibited from being stored in residential areas and around civilian buildings. Subsequent to the investigation's conclusions, those responsible for relevant decisions and dereliction of duty will be held accountable in accordance with the law. It is reported that the Ukrainian Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs have completed a special work report regarding this attack.
