UN Commission of Inquiry: Israel Commits War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity
On October 26, Xinhua News Agency reported from the United Nations (Reporter Shang Xuqian) that the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Question of Palestine (including East Jerusalem) and Israel released a report stating that Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied Palestinian territories and continues to carry out genocide in the Gaza Strip.
The report submitted by the commission to the United Nations General Assembly indicates that the situation in the West Bank has severely deteriorated since October 7, 2023. The report asserts that Palestinians in the West Bank are "being targeted for attack because of their nationality, race and ethnicity, gender, and age."
The report claims that in the Gaza Strip, even after the announcement of a ceasefire agreement, Israeli authorities and forces continue to perpetrate acts of genocide, with the aim of "completely or partially exterminating the Palestinian people."
The commission recommends that Israel should adhere to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice in July 2024, immediately end its illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, remove all settlements, and withdraw settlers. Israel must cease the confiscation and appropriation of Palestinian property and return confiscated and appropriated property, stop occupying Palestinian land under the pretext of military purposes, and return all confiscated land to Palestinian owners.
The UN investigation accuses Israel of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, since October 7, 2023. The report highlights ongoing genocidal actions against Palestinians, even after a ceasefire was announced. It calls for Israel to cease its illegal occupation and return confiscated properties to Palestinians.
