U.S. Aircraft Carrier "Bush" Approaches the Middle East, Trump Says "Time is Running Out"

On April 23, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that the U.S. Central Command posted on social media with images, stating that the Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush was operating in the Indian Ocean within the command's area of responsibility on that day. U.S. President Trump stated, "The clock is ticking."

According to the U.S. military, the Central Command's jurisdiction covers the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Oman, and the Arabian Sea located in the northwest Indian Ocean.

The USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike group departed from Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia on the U.S. East Coast on March 31, circumnavigating the Cape of Good Hope to head to the Middle East. According to the U.S. Army Times website, the USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike group includes several destroyers and has a total of more than 5,000 personnel.

Currently, the U.S. Navy's USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike groups are deployed in the Red Sea and the northern Arabian Sea, respectively. U.S. media reports suggest that the USS George H.W. Bush is likely to replace the USS Gerald R. Ford. During the handover, it is expected that the U.S. military will establish a deployment posture in the Middle East with the USS George H.W. Bush, USS Gerald R. Ford, and USS Abraham Lincoln.

On the same day, Trump posted on social media, once again denying that he was eager to end the conflict with Iran, stating that he has plenty of time, "but Iran does not—time is ticking!"
