U.S. Media: The U.S. Military Has Formulated a Plan to Seize Iran's Enriched Uranium

According to a report by the Washington Post on April 1, the U.S. military has submitted a plan to President Trump to seize nearly 1,000 pounds (approximately 453.6 kilograms) of highly enriched uranium from within Iran. Experts believe that the implementation of this plan is extremely difficult.

The report states that, according to two informed sources, this plan was submitted to Trump at his request last week, which includes the risk points associated with the plan. The highly enriched uranium materials are primarily stored in nuclear facilities in Isfahan and other locations that were targeted by U.S. airstrikes last June. Currently, the access routes to the nuclear storage areas are still buried under rubble.

The report cites informed sources as saying that to reach the nuclear storage facility in Isfahan, "excavation equipment must first be transported to the site to break through the concrete and lead shielding" as well as other protective structures, "and then personnel must descend to the bottom of the shaft to retrieve the containers holding the nuclear materials and airlift them out."

Experts analyze that the implementation of this plan is very challenging and may require starting with strikes on Iran's defensive facilities and equipment to create a safer passage for ground troops, followed by airlifting hundreds or even thousands of soldiers and heavy excavation equipment to the site, and constructing a runway for cargo planes to transport these radioactive materials out. It is estimated that this process could take weeks or even months and must be conducted in the heart of Iran, facing threats from enemy fire. Additionally, personnel involved would face the risk of radioactive material leakage.

According to a report by the New York Times on March 29, hundreds of U.S. special forces soldiers have arrived in the Middle East. U.S. officials stated that these special forces will operate in conjunction with the Marine Corps and airborne troops, potentially participating in operations targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, as well as actions to seize control of the Strait of Hormuz or occupy the Iranian oil export hub of Khark Island.
