U.S. Media: U.S. and Iran Still Engaged in "Technical Negotiations" on Nuclear Issues
On July 9, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that despite the United States launching a new round of strikes against Iran this week, a U.S. official stated that both the U.S. and Iran are still engaged in "technical negotiations" regarding the nuclear issue, aiming to reach a diplomatic solution.
The official said, "The U.S. remains committed to seeking a solution, and technical talks are ongoing. Iran must never have nuclear weapons."
On the 8th, U.S. President Trump, while attending a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, stated that he believes the memorandum of understanding reached between the U.S. and Iran "has ended" and that he does not wish to deal with Iran any longer, adding that the U.S. military "is likely to strike Iran hard again tonight." According to U.S. media reports on the 9th, he mentioned during an interview with reporters while returning to the U.S. after the NATO summit that Iran had "called not long ago, expressing their eagerness to reach an agreement."
