On September 8, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that the U.S. military attacked multiple Iranian oil tankers near Iran's Hark Island on the same day, according to two U.S. officials cited by CNN.

The report stated that the U.S. military struck oil tankers associated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in response to Iran's attempt to attack U.S. warships with missiles.

As of the time of publication, the U.S. Central Command had not released any related information.

Additionally, the Wall Street Journal reported on the 8th that U.S. officials stated that after Iran launched ballistic missiles at a U.S. aircraft carrier and a missile destroyer last weekend, it attacked U.S. warships again on the 7th. These attacks did not hit U.S. vessels, but such actions could lead to an escalation of conflict.

The U.S. Central Command issued a statement on the 5th stating that the U.S. military sank an Iranian oil tanker and rendered two Iranian oil tankers "permanently incapable of navigation" in response to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' attack on a U.S. aircraft carrier and a missile destroyer.
