U.S. Military Claims Completion of Latest Round of Strikes Against Iran
On July 20 local time, the U.S. Central Command stated that the U.S. military completed its latest round of strikes against Iran at 9 PM Eastern Time on the same day.
The statement said that the targets of the U.S. military strikes included Iranian military command centers, maritime operational capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems, "aimed at weakening Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial vessels transiting through the Strait of Hormuz."
The U.S. Central Command stated that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is still ongoing. Since early May, the U.S. military has assisted approximately 900 commercial vessels and about 450 million barrels of crude oil through this important international waterway.
