U.S. Military Claims Completion of New Round of Strikes Against Iran

On September 1, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that the U.S. Central Command announced on social media that the U.S. military has completed a new round of strikes against Iranian military targets, which include the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' air defense positions, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities, and communication sites.

The U.S. military began the new round of strikes against Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets within Iran at 12:00 PM Eastern Time on the 1st. U.S. President Trump subsequently posted on social media that this strike by the U.S. military was "large in scale and powerful," and was a retaliatory action against Iran's attempt to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz and launch eight missiles at U.S. military bases in Jordan. If Iran retaliates against this strike, the U.S. will conduct "more intense and higher-level" strikes again.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on the 1st that it has begun to respond to the U.S. attack that day, claiming to have shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone. The Jordanian Armed Forces issued a statement early on the 2nd, saying that the Jordanian air defense system intercepted 10 ballistic missiles from Iran in the past few hours, while another three ballistic missiles landed in remote areas.

The U.S. embassies in Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia have issued security alerts on their official websites, stating that the situation in the Middle East is tense and there is a "risk of unexpected escalation," urging American citizens currently in the Middle East to remain cautious and vigilant, and to prepare for possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and travel disruptions.
