U.S. Military Claims to Have Destroyed an Underground Facility in Iran Storing Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles
On March 21, Xinhua News Agency reported that General Cooper, the commander of the U.S. Central Command, stated in a video speech released on social media that the U.S. military recently destroyed a fortified underground facility along the Iranian coast using multiple bombs weighing 5,000 pounds (about 2 tons). This facility housed anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile missile launchers, and other weaponry.
Cooper mentioned that the U.S. military also destroyed Iranian intelligence sites and missile radar relay stations used for monitoring ship navigation, which has consequently reduced Iran's ability to threaten the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and its surrounding areas.
Cooper further stated that to date, the U.S. military has attacked over 8,000 military targets in Iran, including 130 Iranian vessels.
On the 17th, the U.S. Central Command announced on social media that the U.S. military had used multiple 5,000-pound bunker busters to strike Iranian missile deployment sites along the coast of the Strait of Hormuz that day.
