US military exposed for preparing for actions against Iran to continue until September

On March 5, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington that the U.S. Politico reported that the United States is not "sufficiently prepared" for an escalation of military actions against Iran and is currently adding personnel and other resources to support the war for "at least 100 days, possibly until September."

The report cited a notification obtained by the newspaper stating: "The U.S. Central Command is urging the Pentagon to send more military intelligence personnel to its headquarters in Tampa, Florida, to support U.S. military operations against Iran for at least 100 days, possibly until September."

The report stated: "This is the first known request from the Trump administration to increase intelligence personnel for the war against Iran... This military action may far exceed President Trump's initial expectation of four weeks."

According to the report, the U.S. military is also transporting more air defense systems to the Middle East, particularly small, low-cost counter-drone systems developed in recent years. The report noted that low-cost Iranian drones are particularly concerning to the U.S. military because they can typically fly below radar detection altitudes, "and the U.S. is currently using missiles worth millions of dollars to shoot down these drones that cost only a fraction of the price of the missiles."

The report also mentioned that the U.S. State Department is reallocating resources to evacuate American citizens stranded in the Middle East and other areas, with senior officials taking over the evacuation operations, which were previously handled by consular officials. The report suggests that the hurried increase in personnel and resources "highlights the Trump team's failure to fully anticipate the broad impact of the war."
