Various Activities Held Nationwide to Celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the People's Navy

Xinhua News Agency, Qingdao, April 23 (Reporters Li Bingxuan, Li Jie) In recent days, the Navy has held various activities across the country, including open house events at military camps, military music performances, tributes to heroes of the People's Navy, and flag-raising ceremonies. More than 100 cities named after naval vessels and cities where the Navy is stationed have simultaneously launched themed light shows and other activities to jointly celebrate the 77th anniversary of the People's Navy.

On the morning of the 23rd, the naval forces stationed in Qingdao held a ceremony to pay tribute to the heroes of the People's Navy at the Navy Hero Square, where honor guards played the naval flute to salute the heroes and martyrs with unique naval etiquette. On the same day, flag-raising ceremonies were held simultaneously in over 100 naval camps across the country. Various naval units invited combat heroes, families of model soldiers, and local primary and secondary school students to participate in diverse patriotic education activities alongside the officers and soldiers. Naval academies conducted themed reading sharing sessions and military story meetings to inspire military academy students to take on the responsibility of strengthening the military.

The open house of active-duty ships has attracted significant public attention. In Qingdao, Shandong, six ships, including the Urumqi ship, Weifang ship, Qiqihar ship, Wuhu ship, Dongping Lake ship, and Yangcheng Lake boat, were docked and opened to the public. Qingdao is also the city with the most warships open to the public during this event. Along the Huangpu River in Shanghai, the Fuyang ship, Qiandao Lake ship, Suzhou ship, and Yimeng Mountain ship docked at the North Bund International Passenger Terminal and Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, appearing alongside city landmarks such as the Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower. In Zhanjiang, Guangdong, the Nanning ship, Kunlun Mountain ship, and Ulingu Lake ship were showcased at a military port, illuminated by city neon lights as the evening fell. To meet public demand for visits to the greatest extent, each unit allocated visiting quotas according to the maximum reception capacity of the ships, and some ships will remain open until this weekend.

In conjunction with the "Warships Returning to Hometown" event, active-duty ships such as the Taizhou ship, Yancheng ship, Nantong ship, and Dongying ship docked at their named cities. In Taizhou, Jiangsu, the birthplace of the People's Navy, the Taizhou ship docked in its named city for the first time, receiving a warm welcome from the public. In Yantai, Shandong, the Qiqihar ship docked in the hometown of national hero Qi Jiguang and opened to the public.

In addition to ship openings, naval units also organized various open house activities at military ports and camps. The public visited naval military airports in Ningbo, Shanghai, and other locations, getting close to active main battle aircraft such as the KJ-500H, Y-8, Y-9, and Z-9D.

Meanwhile, dozens of large and medium-sized cities such as Dalian, Nanjing, Zhoushan, and Sanya used high-rise buildings as canvases and light and shadow technology as brushes to illuminate central business districts, ancient city walls, and transportation hubs with "city light shows," broadcasting series of promotional videos and posters of the People's Navy through building electronic screens and mobile televisions.
