Over the past 36 years, Chinese blue helmets have been deployed continuously, carrying out 26 peacekeeping missions, with a total of over 50,000 personnel sent to mission areas covering more than 20 countries and regions, including Lebanon and South Sudan; 17 Chinese soldiers have sacrificed their lives in peacekeeping operations.
Currently, nearly 1,600 Chinese peacekeepers are stationed in various mission areas and at the United Nations headquarters. From mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal to medical rescue, and from engineering support to armed patrols, Chinese blue helmets have become an indispensable and reliable force in UN peacekeeping operations through their dedication and professionalism.
