Video | One Year Anniversary of Fujian Ship's Commissioning! A Review of the Hard-Core Growth Journey of a Major National Asset
Today (November 5)
Our country's first electromagnetic catapult aircraft carrier, Fujian
celebrates its first anniversary of commissioning

A year ago today
This giant ship with hull number "18"
was officially commissioned at a military port in Sanya, Hainan
The Chinese Navy thus entered the era of three aircraft carriers

From the solemn moment of the flag presentation
to the trails left in the vast ocean
Fujian has
left a brilliant answer sheet belonging to Chinese aircraft carriers in the deep blue waters
Looking back at Fujian's growth journey
Fujian is China's first aircraft carrier
designed and built entirely independently
Every step in its growth journey
has attracted great attention

Let us unlock Fujian's
growth marks in the deep blue

June 17, 2022
Our third aircraft carrier was launched
named Fujian, hull number 18

September 23, 2022
Fujian conducted mooring tests as planned
May 1, 2024
Fujian's first sea trial
lasting 8 days
completed tests of power, electricity, and other system equipment
meeting expected goals

September 22, 2025
During the 93rd National Day parade
the J-15T, J-35, and KJ-600 carrier-based aircraft
completed their first catapult takeoff and landing training on Fujian
November 5, 2025
Fujian was officially commissioned

Less than half a month after commissioning
the carrier group consisting of Fujian and multiple vessels
completed its first live training at sea
various types of carrier-based aircraft completed multiple catapult takeoffs and landings
effectively testing Fujian's
electromagnetic catapult, recovery, and deck operation capabilities

Hull number 18
How "hardcore" is it?
Fujian
is our third aircraft carrier designed and built entirely independently
with a full-load displacement of over 80,000 tons
featuring a straight flight deck
equipped with electromagnetic catapults and arrestor wires
it is the world's first
aircraft carrier using conventional power with electromagnetic catapult technology

2 seconds for catapult launch, "zero-frame" emergency stop!
The electromagnetic catapult system of Fujian is a core device of the aircraft carrier that is independently designed, developed, and manufactured by our country. How powerful is its explosive force? Experts explain: the time for carrier-based aircraft to be catapulted is only 2 seconds, but we have persevered for over 20 years for this moment.

The "five-piece set" of the aircraft carrier is successfully assembled!
The "five-piece set" refers to the J-35 stealth carrier-based aircraft, J-15T catapult carrier-based aircraft, KJ-600 fixed-wing carrier-based early warning aircraft, J-15DT electronic warfare aircraft, and anti-submarine helicopters.
Having the "five-piece set" is not easy; it requires a country to reach a world-leading level in aerospace industry, shipbuilding system, electronic information technology, and other fields.

The J-35 deployed on Fujian has achieved world-leading levels in air superiority operations and strike capabilities against sea and land targets, overcoming the design and manufacturing challenges of stealth carrier-based aircraft.
The J-15, with the "T" designation, can carry a full load of munitions and fuel, enhancing its combat capability.
The KJ-600 integrates advanced radar and command systems into a small fixed-wing aircraft, allowing the entire carrier combat system to see further and providing the carrier-based aircraft force with a backbone for systematic and information-based operations.
The J-15DT controls electromagnetic dominance, capable of suppressing strong enemies and protecting allies.
The new anti-submarine helicopter can detect and attack underwater enemies and quickly execute search and rescue missions, making it a versatile combat asset on the carrier.
Liaoning → Shandong → Fujian
Looking back at our "aircraft carrier journey"
A year ago, Fujian was commissioned
The People's Navy entered the era of three aircraft carriers
This not only signifies an increase in the scale of aircraft carriers
but also a qualitative leap in systemic combat capabilities

△ From top to bottom: Liaoning, Shandong, Fujian
Liaoning: A breakthrough from nothing
On September 25, 2012, our first aircraft carrier, Liaoning, was officially commissioned, with hull number "16". Its service marked a historic leap for our aircraft carriers from "nothing to something".

Shandong: An independent breakthrough
On December 17, 2019, the first domestically designed, equipped, and built aircraft carrier, Shandong, was officially commissioned, with hull number "17". Thus, the Chinese Navy officially entered the era of dual aircraft carriers.

Fujian: A technological leap
On November 5, 2025, our first electromagnetic catapult aircraft carrier, Fujian, was officially commissioned, with hull number "18", marking our entry into the era of three aircraft carriers. It is the world's first aircraft carrier using conventional power with electromagnetic catapult technology, signifying that Chinese aircraft carriers have reached the forefront globally.
