WHO confirms 13 attacks on Iranian medical facilities
Xinhua News Agency, Geneva, March 5 (Reporter Wang Lu) According to data released by the World Health Organization on the 5th, recent military conflicts have resulted in nearly 1,000 deaths in Iran, with the country's medical facilities suffering 13 attacks.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated at a press conference that the current conflicts in the Middle East have affected 16 countries, with attacks occurring against medical facilities in Iran and Lebanon. Tedros emphasized that, according to international humanitarian law, medical facilities must be protected.
Tedros also mentioned that the conflict has caused a large number of people to be displaced, with approximately 100,000 people having left Iran and over 60,000 displaced within Lebanon. Additionally, due to the unstable security situation, the WHO's global health emergency logistics center located in Dubai, UAE, has suspended operations.
