Worldwide Eurofighter fleet surpasses one million flight hours
The worldwide Eurofighter Typhoon fleet has now surpassed one million flight hours, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH, which co-ordinates the programme on the industrial side, announced on 29 January 2026.
The milestone additionally means that the aircraft’s powerplant, the EJ200, has achieved two million engine flight hours, given that two EJ200s power each Typhoon aircraft.
“One million flying hours is a truly historic milestone that reflects three decades of teamwork, innovation, and commitment from thousands of people across Europe,” Eurofighter CEO Jorge Tamarit-Degenhardt was quoted as stating in a company press release.
“Reaching one million flying hours is a powerful testament to the Eurofighter’s performance and reliability,” added Simon Ellard, general manager of the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA).
For the four Eurofighter core nations – Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom – around 80% of their operational air missions are flown by Typhoon jets.
Over 600 Eurofighters are currently operational worldwide with the air forces of the four Eurofighter nations plus Austria, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, while the last year or so has seen significant additional orders:
- In December 2024 Spain ordered 25 new Eurofighters while Italy signed a contract for up to 24 new Typhoons;
- In October 2025 Germany ordered 20 new Tranche 5 Typhoons;
- Also in October 2025 a deal was finalised to supply Türkiye with 20 new Typhoons (supplemented by 12 second-hand Typhoons from Oman and another 12 from Qatar).
The total number of Eurofighters ordered currently stands at 769.
