Yemeni Government Forces and Houthi Militants Continue to Clash on Multiple Fronts

On the 17th local time, the Yemeni government forces are preventing the Houthi armed forces from advancing on multiple fronts, with both sides engaged in combat near strategic locations such as the Kahbob Mountains close to the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

After controlling large areas along the Yemeni Red Sea coast, the Houthi forces have launched combat units in an attempt to seize the strategic Kahbob Mountains near the Red Sea. Currently, the Yemeni government forces are blocking the Houthi advance in this area. Saudi Arabia is also conducting airstrikes to support the Yemeni government forces.

The Kahbob Mountains are located at the border of Yemen's Lahij and Taiz provinces, northeast of the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, and are an important high ground connecting the Red Sea coast with inland transportation routes.

The Yemeni government claims the Houthi forces have suffered heavy losses on multiple fronts

On the 17th, Ali Mohsen, chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, stated that the Houthi forces have suffered heavy losses on multiple fronts in Yemen, and their advance along the Red Sea coast is temporary. The Yemeni government and its armed forces are fully capable of regaining the initiative along the Red Sea coast. The Houthi forces have not responded to this yet.

The Houthis and Saudi Arabia continue mutual attacks

Additionally, on the 17th, mutual attacks between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia continued. A Houthi spokesperson stated that in the past 24 hours, Saudi Arabia has launched 37 airstrikes on Yemen's Taiz and Hajjah provinces, resulting in civilian casualties.

The Saudi Civil Defense Authority issued a statement on the 17th, stating that a drone launched by the Houthi forces was intercepted and destroyed in Taif, Saudi Arabia, with debris falling and causing one death, two injuries, and damage to several buildings and vehicles.
