Yemeni government forces claim to have killed and injured dozens of Houthi militants.
Xinhua News Agency, Kuwait City, September 22 (Reporter Yin Zha) Aden news: Local officials of the Yemeni government said on the 22nd that fierce clashes broke out again that day between the Yemeni government forces and Houthi armed groups in the southwestern Taiz province, resulting in at least 16 deaths and dozens of injuries.
Abdulaziz Shebani, the district chief of Shamayatayn in western Taiz province, told Xinhua that government forces repelled an attack by Houthi armed groups in the area that day, killing 12 Houthi fighters and injuring dozens more. During the clashes, government forces also captured two Houthi fighters.
Shebani stated that 4 soldiers from the government forces were killed in the fighting, and several others were injured. After the clashes, government forces expelled the Houthi armed groups from a key area in Shamayatayn.
In addition, Majid Nuzaili, a spokesperson for the Yemeni government forces, issued a statement on social media that day, saying that government forces conducted airstrikes on Houthi military equipment and personnel in the Red Sea port city of Mocha in Taiz province and in the central Yemeni province of Al-Bayda.
According to a statement released by the Houthi armed groups on their controlled Masirah TV that day, the organization claimed that recent military operations in the western coastal areas of Yemen, particularly in the southwestern Taiz province and the western Al-Hudaydah province, have resulted in over 600 government forces casualties, with hundreds of government personnel captured. The Houthi armed groups have seized a large number of light, medium, and heavy weapons.
