Zelensky Claims Ukrainian Forces Sank a Russian Container Ship
On August 1 local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated on social media that the Ukrainian military launched strike operations at night, targeting maritime objectives in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, as well as facilities deep within Russian territory, carrying out multiple rounds of strikes. A container ship named "Yannina," flying the Russian flag, was hit by Ukrainian forces and sank; the ship had a deadweight tonnage of over 100,000 tons.
Zelensky also mentioned that the Ukrainian Security Service's forces attacked the infrastructure of three oil refineries in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. The targets of this strike were located approximately 1,600 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
