Zelensky Denies Plans to Announce Election Schedule Soon, Reiterates "Ceasefire for Elections"

On the 11th local time, a reporter from the Central Station learned that Ukrainian President Zelensky refuted the news that he would announce the holding of elections on the 24th, emphasizing that elections can only be held under conditions where all security guarantees are in place.

In addition, Zelensky denied reports that “the U.S. threatened to withdraw security guarantees for Ukraine if it does not announce a date for the presidential election,” stating, “Some of Ukraine's partners mentioned the issue of elections, but Ukraine itself has never proactively brought it up. However, Ukraine is absolutely ready for elections. Achieving this goal is simple: as long as there is a ceasefire, elections can be held.”

Regarding peace negotiations, Zelensky stated that the U.S. proposed to hold talks in Miami next week, and Ukraine immediately confirmed its willingness to participate, but “Russia is still hesitating.” He also stated, “We cannot go to Moscow to negotiate with Putin; Ukraine is willing to negotiate in any neutral area outside of Russia and Belarus.” When discussing the main obstacles to peace, Zelensky pointed out that there has not yet been a consensus on the Donbas issue among the parties.
